Many members of Sealand Travel Club travel quite frequently. The benefits of travel with Sealand Travel Club are that savings for you on vacations, afford you the luxury of traveling more. Other travelers, including business people, may be obligated to travel quite frequently as well. In cases such as this, the government has developed programs called Trusted Travel Programs. These programs provide expedited travel for pre approved, low risk travelers.

Join Sealand Travel Club as we take a look at the four types of Trusted Traveler programs that can help you travel in a more expedited fashion.

NEXUS – Travel by land, air or sea between U.S. and Canada.
SENTRI – Travel between the U.S. and Mexico border.
FAST – Travel by commercial truck drivers between the U.S. and Canada and U.S. and Mexico borders.
Global Entry – Speeds up screening and processing for pre-screened international travelers entering the United States.

If you the average traveler, not a truck driver and are a U.S. citizen who travels to locations in Mexico or Canada frequently, you may be interested in looking into the NEXUS and SENTRI programs. For vacationers who visit these locations frequently, becoming a member of these programs can significantly reduce your travel time.

The NEXUS Program explained

This program provides approved travelers a card issued by the Canada Border Services Agency. The cost is CAN$50 and requires additional requirements. Those applying for a NEXUS program also require applicants to submit to an interview and fingerprinting. The card is valid for 5 years and allows you to go through a separate line when crossing the border.

A similar program offered by the Canadian government is called a CANPASS. The difference between the two programs is that a CANPASS only provides expedited border crossing into Canada and not on the return into the U.S. The NEXUS programs will provide faster access to both the U.S. and Canada.

The SENTRI Program explained

This program provides pre approved travelers easier and faster access across the U.S./Mexico border. An added benefit is access to dedicated commuter lanes on the southern border. Total cost is $122.25 and requires an interview and fingerprinting in addition. Valid for 5 years, the SENTRI card is issued by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency.
Both of these programs can be applied for online.
